Golf Pavilion

The new Golf Pavilion which officially opened on June 16th 2005 represents a €3m investment is classic 21st. century modernity. Covering an 18,000 square foot floor area, the two storey structure has state of the art ground floor changing rooms, and golf shop. Spacious restaurant, and lounge, billiards room, committee room, and conference room are located on the first floor. The interior design and furnishing concepts reflect an elegantly styled luxury with subtle light patterns which engage with striking views of Sheephaven Bay and Muckish Mountain landscapes.

Architecturally, the Pavilion design draws from British Open venue, Turnberry in Scotland, and from elevations and style of the old Rosapenna Hotel, built as a holiday lodge by the Earl of Leitrim in 1893. In another connection with the past, the site of the new Pavilion is the exact site of the original holiday lodge.

In addition to unveiling the plaque to mark the opening of the Pavilion, Seamus Mallon also cut a tape to inaugurate the new Strand Links. These new Ruddy designed holes will eventually replace the old link’s back nine. They form a seamless connection with the Morris designed ‘Valley’ holes and this configuration of 18 holes will be in play from September 2009. Running to just under 7,000 yards off the championship markers the Strand and Valley nines are a testing combination of traditional and modern links holes which bridge a century of golf design influences.

Both the new Strand nine and Sandy Hills Links have a routing on the Tramore stretch of linksland and neither routing is transgressed by public road.

“By any measure Rosapenna compares more than favourably with any golf facility in any part of Ireland. The Hotel and Pavilion, two championship links, Sandy Hills and Old Tom Morris , along with the golfing academy which will feature 9 holes from the original Morris course, makes Rosapenna the best equipped golf resort in the country”. said Mallon

Rosapenna Hotel & Golf Resort  offers special golf packages to residents and can guarantee tee times on either course.
